Camping holidays in Burgundy provide a taste of rural France which you will find
relaxing and very different from home. The pace of life is slower, the weather is
generally better (but not usually too hot), and there's plenty to do if you can
tear yourself away from the amenities and facilities of the excellent campsites.
The area is awash with history whilst activities are usually not too strenuous,
such as easy walking and cycling, or canoeing on the canals.
If you prefer something a little more energetic, then the cycle path La Voie
Bleu runs along the banks of the Saone southwards from Tournus towards Macon, or
there's La Voie Verte cycle path between Cormatin and Cluny. Both these mostly off-road
and well surfaced paths are easy enough for family trips, but offer some harder
optional diversions through the rolling hills and vineyards.
The Eurocamp campsite is close to the old town of Tournus on the banks of the
Saone. Other nearby attractions are the fascinating museum of photography in Chalon-sur-Saone,
the great Abbey of Cluny, with an innovative 3D audio-visual reconstruction of what
this massive building would once have looked like, and the religious retreat and
educational centre at Taizé.
The Keycamp campsite is further north among the rolling hills of the Cote d'Or
wine producing region and close to the ancient city of Beaune with its famous cloisters,
and the great Bourbon capital of Dijon is within easy reach.
Burgundy is not difficult to reach from the UK. Dijon is about 4 and a half hours'
drive from Calais, excluding stops. Click this link for information on all the
