Provence lies just inland of the Cote d'Azur. Most of the campsites are
along the coast, on the Cote d'Azur, or French Riviera as it is better known. So
if you want a camping holiday close to the sea, find out more about the
Eurocamp sites on the French Riviera and Keycamp
camping holidays on the Cote d'Azur.
The one campsite which offers a camping
holiday in inland Provence itself is the
Eurocamp Domaine du Verdon, near Castellane, deep in the hills of Provence.
Castellane is on the RN85 between Dignes le Bains and Cannes.

The
Domaine du Verdon lies on the River Verdon itself, with direct access. The
campsite is large and very well equipped with all the amenities. There are 3
pools with slides, a restaurant and a pizzeria. But you won't want to spend all
your time in the campsite, because the surrounding area is one of the most
spectacular in France. Just to the north is the large Lake de Castillon,
offering all the watersports in beautiful surroundings. In the opposite
direction is the Canyon du Verdon which comes close to rivalling the Grand
Canyon in terms of depth and length. There is a spectacular drive all around the
rim of the canyon with plenty of opportunities for stopping to admire the
vertiginous views.
And all this in the heart of Provence, in a landscape filled with the scents
and sounds associated with this lovely part of France. Cannes and the coast of
the French Riviera is just an hour and a half away, so you can even treat
yourself to a dip in the Meditarranean, stopping en-route to sample the perfumes
created at Grasse, the perfume capital of the World!
