A camping holiday in Tuscany offers the opportunity to enjoy this famous and
beautiful landscape at its best, in the sun-drenched countryside amongst the
ancient olives in the shade of the cypress trees, taking in the scents and
perfumes of nature. The scenery invites exploration and there are plenty of
walking trails and tracks for biking, or you can take the easy option and
discover the region by car along the byways of Tuscany.
The area is rich with history, whether it's the artistic treasures of
Florence, the ochre-tinged town of Sienna with its stunning Campo central
square, scene of the famous Palio annual horse race between different districts
of the town, or Pisa, with its famous leaning tower. Almost every small town or
village has something to offer, such as the astonishing array of towers in now
fashionable San Gimigniano, or Lucca with its encircling walls. And don't forget
the coast of Tuscany, where long sandy beaches backed by shady pines are
interspersed with rocky headlands and pretty fishing villages like Porto Ercole
on the Promontorio d' Argentario.
Flights are available to Pisa, where you can hire a car from
Auto Europe Car Hire or
Argus Car Hire. If you want the freedom of bringing your own car, check out
our
route planner where you will also see our hotels displayed for you to
book an
overnight stop. It's possible to drive here from Calais with a single
night's stop, but we'd recommend at least 2 nights en-route. Take your time and
enjoy the journey. For
